What should I do with my Life?
This question has been in my mind for years. At school, I was good at Maths, French, Physics, History, Chemistry, Philosophy, etc. I don’t remember a subject I was bad at. If I didn’t excel in a field, I was at least above average. When I went to university, I decided to study General Engineering. So I spent 5 years studying mainly Industrial Manufacturing, Mechanical and Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Oil and Gas. I obtained my degree with honors. My peers were saying: “Wow Ella, you’re gonna have a very successful career, top companies will want to hire you”. But deep inside, I knew I was not attracted by the corporate world.
After several months of meditation, introspection and prayers, a sentence kept resonating inside my mind: “Find Your Own Way”. What does that mean? I didn’t really understand what was hidden behind this sentence. Anyway, I decided to do my own research about topics like Finding Your Passion, Life Purpose, Soul Mission, etc. I began to see things clearer as I took the MBTI test (Myers Briggs Type Indicator test) . According to this test, there are 16 personality types. I discovered that I am an INFx (Strong combination of INFJ and INFP). INFJ stands for Introvert-Intuitive-Feeler-Judger. In the case of INFP, the last letter stands for Perceiver. This test gave me insights about the things that drive me. I was able to acknowledge this natural attraction that I have for Art (especially music and dance), Psychology, Philosophy, Science, and anything related to innovations (but only when the betterment of Mankind is at the core). I also discovered that I was an Empath. Empaths filter the world through their intuition. We easily feel and absorb other people’s emotions and/or physical symptoms because of our high sensitivities.
So what should I do with my life? I can’t give a detailed answer to this question. But what I know is that, I have to keep learning about myself and the world, and do my best to use my inner talents to bring positive changes around me. I think I’m still at the beginning of a pretty exciting journey. There are articles and other tools which helped me a lot in this process, and that’s why I’m sharing them in this post. Be yourself, and have fun.
